ABOUT BIODIESEL: Biodiesel is a clean burning organic based fuel made from renewable resources like soy and corn. Biodiesel can be used in most diesel engines without any modifications at all (check your owner's manual). It contains no petroleum at all but can be blended with petroleum based fuels. Biodiesel is biodegradable. No "earth saving" studies have been done but Biodiesel does not give off near as much of the dangerous CO2 toxins as petroleum. Biodiesel has been found to be safe for interaction with humans and animals. Any container that is rated safe for storage of petroleum based fuels is safe for Biodiesel storage as well. No, though the raw materials found in Biodiesel are made from items such as cooking oil, Biodiesel is refined similarly to petroleum. No, most current engines can use Biodiesel with few or no modifications at all. Yes, Biodiesel has been approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources Board, and the Department of Energy. This answer depends on how someone obtains their Biodiesel. If someone were to process it on their own it costs significantly less. If someone were left to purchase Biodiesel from somewhere the cost could be close to that of regular gasoline. We have a link directory where people who sell Biodiesel are free to link to their own web pages. |
